About the Alki Project House

First off let me say thank you to the great West Seattle community for supporting this idea.

How did this start? Well one day we were walking our dog down Alki Beach, talking about life, love, the universe and our world, your world, what we see.

Day in and day out, people walk by these houses, most just ignore them now, as they have sat empty and have become dilapidated with age.

What did we see...beauty. 2 beautiful houses, crying out; "LIVE IN ME!!!!"

So began the research, we walked around the property, and such a beautiful property it is, such a wondrous landscape buried under years of overgrowth, the land is reclaiming itself.

Tirelessly we searched, who owned these 2 houses, who just let them go, who forgot about them.

We found out that these houses were owned by a development company, their taxes being paid by a company owned by a man involved in Ponzi Schemes. Red tape and dead ends, but still no name. Finally, just an off chance, we found a name.

So after lots of careful deliberation, and planning and thoughtful communication. We have decided, that we will make these houses livable once again. Not for us. We are not homeless, we are not some random person looking for a place to get out of the cold. We are a community minded couple, looking to give back to a beautiful community, a community with a small blemish within.

No one cares about those houses. Wait...strike that. We Do. We will take our chances, we will attempt what few have attempted before us. And with the support of our wonderful community, perhaps one day, people will remember these houses, not for what they were, but for what they will become.
